Piling Installation & Repair

Dock piling installation, repair, and replacement.

We install and replace pilings that support docks, lifts, and related waterfront structures. We also evaluate damaged pilings to determine whether repair is possible.

Available Work

What we can build, replace, or repair.

We inspect the existing structure, water exposure, site access, measurements, materials, and how you plan to use the property.

01

New piling installation

Install structural supports for a new dock, boat lift, or replacement waterfront structure.

02

Piling replacement

Replace supports that are too deteriorated, damaged, displaced, or unsuitable for continued service.

03

Piling repair evaluation

Check the damage location, remaining sound material, alignment, waterline condition, and the load carried by the piling.

04

Alignment & connections

Inspect the piling, beams, framing, hardware, and dock above it as one structural load path.

Problems to Address

A damaged piling can cause the dock to lean, sag, or move.

Damage is often concentrated at or below the waterline, where it is difficult to see from the deck. The connection between the piling and framing must also be inspected.

Dock shifts or racks under normal use
Piling is split, hollowed, or visibly damaged
Support is leaning or out of alignment
Connections have pulled away or loosened
Damage is concentrated near the waterline
One section of the dock is settling or sagging

Inspection Details

Inspect the piling from the waterline to the framing connection.

The embedded support, exposed section, connection hardware, beams, and framing above it all carry the load. Damage in one part can cause movement somewhere else in the dock.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers before you request an estimate.

Can a damaged dock piling be repaired?+

Sometimes. We check where the damage is, how much sound material remains, the connection above, and the load the piling carries before recommending repair or replacement.

When does a piling need replacement?+

Replacement may be required when deterioration, splitting, movement, loss of material, or impact damage leaves too little sound structure for a repair.

Why does my dock move even though the decking looks good?+

Movement can come from pilings, framing, bracing, fasteners, or connections. The walking surface alone does not show the condition of the structural system.

What photos are useful?+

Send wide photos showing alignment, close-ups at the waterline and connection points, and any angles that show movement, splitting, or separation.
